The official flower of
Maui Island is a small, pink rose called the lokelani. The unofficial symbol is the silversword, a relative of the sunflower. On
Maui Island, they grow only above 6,000 feet on
Mt Haleakala.
The plant is a metallic gray color and has a stalk and hundreds of flowers and leaves. They are protected as an endangered species and can grow into stalks, vines, shrubs or trees.
