Adair is located in
Adair County in the
Southwest Region of Iowa just off I-80 at exit 76 along Highway N54 near Lake Anita State Park, one of the most popular recreational sites in Southwest Iowa.
Adair was named after Gen. John Adair. In 1873, Jesse James' gang robbed the Rock Island train near here. Local landmarks include a smiley face painted on a water tower.
