Mitchell County Memorial Hospital was built in 1950 and 1951 as a county hospital. The thirty-two bed facility opened its doors for business on October 1, 1951. Today, Mitchell County Regional Health Center is comprised of the hospital and clinic in Osage, and clinics in Riceville, St. Ansgar, and Stacyville. Their PHO is dedicated to providing the highest level of quality health care to residents of Mitchell County. The hospital is licensed for 25 patient beds; 2 LDRP rooms and 3 baby bassinets. Each patient room is comfortably and attractively furnished with a private bath, telephone, and cable service. The parking is free. There is a Critical Care Unit, Same Day Surgery Unit and an Emergency Department that is staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The hospital beds are separated into medical, surgical, obstetric and pediatric areas. The hospital also operates an ambulance service that is comprised of three vehicles.
