Bear Lake National Wildlife Refuge |
The flapping thunder on this 18,000-acre marsh comes from a large population of birds. Over 165 species are found here, including sandhill cranes, bitterns, avocets, and white pelicans, some of which migrate while others stay and nest.
Early in the year, access restrictions are imposed to minimize disturbances during nesting.
Group tours are available by request. Reservations are required.
Bear Lake is in the extreme southeast corner of Idaho.
