On the Utah border on US 91 south of
Preston, Franklin is the county seat of
Franklin County.
Settled in 1860 by Mormon pioneers, the town was once a busy terminus for the Utah Northern Railroad, where freight for Montana mines reloaded to be hauled north by wagons.
There is also a Franklin, New Hampshire.
