Salmon Idaho |
The town of Salmon is located at the junction of US 93 and Hwy 28 at the base of the Lemhi Mountains. It is the first major town south of the Bitterroot Mountain Range and Montana, and is the county seat of Lemhi County.
Once a winter campsite for fur trappers like Jim Bridger and Kit Carson, Salmon sits at the forks of the Salmon and Lemhi rivers near the edge of the Salmon Valley. Lewis and Clark passed through on their way to the Pacific.
