One of the few remaining un-dammed waterways in America, the Salmon River is best experienced with the help of a licensed and bonded outfitter and guide. Throughout the rugged mountains and grassy plains through which the river passes, an abundance of animal life such as deer, elk, black bear and mountain goats thrive.

The canyon which the river has formed is now part of the 2.5 million acre Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness.
