The great Snake River twists its way across southern Idaho, turning north as it reaches the border of Oregon. Like so many other great rivers, the Snake creates a micro climate ideal for grape growing, despite the surrounding arid landscape.

The river along with the air currents currents created by the moving mass of water helps temper the extreme temperatures of winter and the heat of summer. This is the reason the majority of Idaho's wineries are scattered throughout the Snake River Valley.
