Spalding is a town in Nez Perce County, 10 miles east of Lewiston near where US 95 meets US 12. It is on the Snake River on the Nez Perce reservation. The town was named for the Reverend Henry Harmon Spalding, who taught the Nez Perce Indians how to use irrigation for farming. There is also a Spalding, Nebraska.
