This reconstructed fort protected settlers during the
Black Hawk War. It housed the mining community during the 1832 attack by Black Hawk and his warriors.
Nationally-registered, the Fort opened for tourists in 1997. An interpretive center relates the history of the pioneers and Native Americans of the region.
