Bourbonnais is located in
Kankakee County and is part of a tri-city area that includes
Kankakee and
Bradley along U.S. 45/52 and
Interstate 57 on the banks of the
Kankakee River near the Iroquois River. The town is about 5 miles southeast of
Kankakee River State Park.
For those desiring post-high school education, Olivet Nazarene University is located here. In addition to the educational advantages of the university, the facility is leased out to the the NFL's Chicago Bears for their pre-season training camp during late summer.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 15,511, an increase of 1,582 since 1990.
