Byron is a town on the Rock River southwest of Rockford in northern Illinois' Winnebago County at the convergence of SRs 2 and 72.Area recreation includes outings for golfing enthusiasts at PrairieView Golf Course. In addition, fair-goers will enjoy the "Turkey Testicle Festival" held in October of each year. The population estimate for 2000 was about 2,900.
