Carlinville is located in southwestern Illinois in
Macoupin County (of which it is the county seat) 45 miles south-southwest of
Springfield and about 45 miles northeast of
St Louis along SRs 4 and 108.
Those desiring a post-high school education can find it at Blackburn College.
Carlinville is situated along historic Route 66.
