Lake Catherine is located at the "top" of the
NE Illinois' Chain O' Lakes system and empties into
Channel Lake to the west. The lake occupies 155 acres and has an average depth of about 40 feet.
Fish species, numbering about 15, include Crappie, Muskie, Northern Pike and Pumpkinseed.
Other lakes in the Chain include Lake Marie, Bluff Lake, Grass Lake, Petite Lake, Fox Lake, Nippersink Lake, Pistakee Lake and Redhead Lake.
Nearby Chain O' Lakes State Park provides extensive recreational opportunities including an archery range, horseback riding, hiking trails and more.
