Chicago River

The Chicago River flows out of Lake Michigan into downtown Chicago. It is 156 miles long and has 52 moveable bridges--the most in the world.

As an interesting anecdote, during St. Patrick's Day in March, the river is dyed green. In addition, the annual "Chicago River Flatwater Classic" canoe race is held on the river in early August.
