Crest Hill

Crest Hill, founded in 1960, is located in northeastern Illinois in central Will County southwest of Chicago just north of Joliet overlooking the Des Plaines River to the east about 5 miles east of Interstate 55 and 7 miles north of Interstate 80. The population estimate for 2000 was about 13,300.

For history buffs, Route 66 passes along the town's eastern limits although it is now known as State Route 53.

The town plays host to the Stateville Prison located on the north side. It is perhaps best known as being a "haunted" prison during October of each year.
