The original Deer Path Inn was located on a site which had been a hunter's log cabin on a trail leading to Lake Michigan, thereafter known as Deer Path Road. Built in the 1860s, it was initially the stately residence of a wealthy Chicago family and later became a popular weekend retreat for the city's elite. The current structure was built in 1929 on Illinois Road and was remodeled after The Manor House, a Tudor half-timbered and stone inn, circa 1453, in Chiddingstone, England. The Deer Path Inn has remained a favorite haven for discerning Chicagoans and visiting guests alike who appreciate European sophistication and service.
