Dongola is located in southern Illinois in southern
Union County about 25 miles south of
Carbondale just south of U.S. 51 at its junction with
Interstate 57 about 15 miles east of the
Mississippi River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 766, an increase of 38 since 1990.
