Elgin is located in northeastern Illinois and straddles the
Cook County/
Kane County line just northwest of
Chicago along
Interstate 90 on the banks of the
Fox River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 87,507, an increase of 10,493 since 1990.
The city, the hub of the northern river valley area, has two beautiful historic districts with one having all 667 homes listed in the National Register.
Continuing education opportunities include Elgin Community College and Judson College.
Recreational activities include outings to Rolling Knolls Country Club, a shorter, executive-style course open to the public.
