Franklin County Historic Jail Museum |
Styled in Georgian Revival architecture, the Historic Jail Museum serves as a tourist information center and headquarters for the Franklin County Tourism Bureau.
This turn of the century structure serves as a metaphor of the gang era which existed in Franklin County during the days of prohibition. In addition to the 1920s era, a large area of the museum features the life and history of Civil War Gen. Gen. John A. Logan. A hall of fame features former Benton natives-actor John Malkovich and NBA basketball star and coach Doug Collins, as well as site locations tracing the historic three-week visit to the county in 1963 by late "Beatles" band member George Harrison.
Located 1/2 mile off I-57 on Rt.14 in Benton.
