Geneva is located in northeastern Illinois in eastern Kane County (of which it is the county seat) just west of West Chicago at the intersection of Highways 31 and 38 on the banks of the Fox River.
Established in 1833, the town features more than 200 landmark buildings, Victorian homes, a museum chock full of local history as well as quaint shops and boutiques, restaurants and cafes.

The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 18,382, an increase of 5,757 since 1990.
