Hebron, a predominately Jewish settlement that takes its name from the Old Testament, is located in northeastern Illinois in McHenry County along SRs 47 and 173 about 2 miles from the Wisconsin state line. Nearby outdoor recreation can be found along Nippersink Creek about 2 miles to the west and around the shores of Wonder Lake about 7 miles to the southeast of town. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 887, an increase of 78 since 1990.
