Founded in 1920 by the Sisters of St. Francis of Mary Immaculate, the today's University began as first "The New College" and then Assisi Junior College. In 1930, Upper Division curricula was added and the name was changed to College of St. Francis. By 1998, (with the addition of the College of Nursing) St. Francis was granted University status.
The University is located in Joliet, Will County, IL, and has an enrollment of about 4200. Student housing is available for 400.
