Founded in 1844 in conjuction with St. Mary's College, the Seminary continued until 1866 closing due to financial difficulties. It reopened its doors in 1921 and has been a viable institution since. The curricula called for a six year commitment to attain the Doctor of Theology. Today the Seminary grants the Master of Divinity and the Doctor of Ministry as well.
