Owned and operated by the Northern Illinois 4-H Camp Association, (While many 4-H members attend, 4-H membership is NOT a requirement.). Camp staff is selected from universities throughout the Midwest. Most are returning with previous summer's experience. All staff participate in a week-long extensive training program.
Every year groups from various communities bring their campers to Camp Shaw-waw-nas-see to seek a natural setting to help focus on the group's particular task. Retreat, meetings, team building, recreation, individual growth are all fostered by the serene peaceful setting. Group stays vary in length from an afternoon to week-long. Fees are based on facilities used, length of stay and number of individuals in the group.
It provides cabins, dining hall and kitchen, nature cabin, crafts lodge, recreation shelter, and pool. Store features different of t-shirts, hats, and postal cards. They offer nature activities, pool activities and adventure activities.
