Junction is located in southern Illinois in south central
Gallatin County about 3 miles west of
Shawneetown, the county seat, and 6 miles west of the
Ohio River. It is just north of the northeast corner of
Shawnee National Forest. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 195, a decrease of 6 since 1990.
