Meritage Imports is located in the heart of Chicagos River North Gallery District, featuring contemporary fine art and antiques from China, Vietnam, Korea, Japan, Thailand and other exotic places. Specializing in late Qing Dynasty 19th century furniture from China, the Gallery is filled with large chests, altar tables, small cabinets and incredible carved wood screens in sets of 4, 6 and 8. Korean antique medicine cabinets, rice chests, bean chests and rice coffee tables are to be found. In every nook and cranny of the Gallery are antique baskets and buckets of every shape and size. Throughout, Buddhas from Thailand, Burma, Vietnam and China sit on pillows created from antique obis and Chinese silk. The walls are filled with their featured artists who include Le Quan, Dao Hai Phong, Dinh Quan and Nguyen Dieu Thuy from Vietnam, Wand Jing and Jia Shun Li from China. Although all contemporary artists, each is distinctive.
