Mound City is located in extreme southern Illinois in Pulaski County (of which it is the county seat) about 10 miles north of Cairo on Highway 37 about 1 mile west of the Ohio River. The population estimate for 2000 was about 700.The Mound City National Cemetery is located here and has over 5,000 records.
