New Lenox Public Library District, serving a population of some 33,000 residents, has a collection of over 110,000 books and periodicals. Additionally, CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes are available. Internet terminals are available for use by the general public. Staffing consists of 33 full and part time employees, of whom 4 are fully degreed librarians, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $147,000. Patrons make about 200,000 visits annually, and check out over 300,000 materials. Fifty-two percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
The library is located at 120 Veterans Parkway in the newly developed Village Commons. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday during the school year, 10-2 during the summer.
Novel Brew, a coffee shop located in the library’s outer lobby is open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday.
