Prospect Heights is located in northeastern Illinois in Cook County just east of Arlington Heights and west of Interstate 294. It was incorporated in 1976, 40 years after the area's first housing began to appear. The population was just over 17,000 in 2000.
One of the highlights of early summer is the "Prospect Heights Summerfest", held in mid-June and featuring, among other things, a huge "Battle of the Bands". Everyday recreational opportunities include outings to Rob Roy Golf Course.
