Spitler Woods State Natural Area

Two-thirds of the area is a dedicated nature preserve containing one of the few remaining stands of old-growth timber in Illinois. Two trails wind through the preserve, allowing the hiker to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of the forest. Public facilities include a large day-use facility with many picnic areas convenient to parking spaces.
