Spring Valley

Spring Valley is located in north central Illinois in southeastern Bureau County about 10 miles west of La Salle in the picturesque Illinois River Valley. Area attractions include scenic Spring Creek Golf Course.

The town was established in 1884 as a coal mining town with aspirations of being a large city. Town visionaries laid out wide streets and reserved certain areas for churches, schools, etc. By 1888 the town had a population of over 3,000. It became a microcosm of America in that, by 1905, the town boasted 32 distinct nationalities present.
