Volo Illinois

Volo is located in northeastern Illinois in Lake County along U.S. Highway 12 about 15 miles east of the Fox River and 15 miles south-southeast of Pistakee Lake just east of the Volo Bog State Natural Area. The population estimate for 2000 was about 200.

An interesting anecdote regarding the town is its battle with giant car manufacturer Volvo over a worldwide web "domain name" which was joined in the early 2000s by tiny Volo Auto Museum who has a website called "volocars.com." The car maker started their website in 2000 under the URL of "volvocars.com" while the museum, which has been doing business under their name for about 40 years, started their website in 1997. The car maker wants the museum to give up or change their domain name. As of 2003, the case is unresolved.
