Westmont, founded in 1921, is located in northeastern Illinois in DuPage County just east of Downers Grove. U.S. Highway 34 passes in an east-west direction through the northern section of town. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 22,654, an increase of 1,252 since 1990.
Highlights of summer include the "Taste of Westmont", a 3-day event held the 2nd weekend in July and featuring American, BBQ, Cajun, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and Seafood cuisine as well as live music. In addition, the "Westmont Summerfest", another 3-day event, is held the 2nd weekend in August and features a petting zoo, beer garden, food vendors, climbing wall, softball tournament and more.
