Westmont, founded in 1921, is located in northeastern Illinois in DuPage County just east of Downers Grove. U.S. Highway 34 passes in an east-west direction through the northern section of town. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 22,654, an increase of 1,252 since 1990.Highlights of summer include the "Taste of Westmont", a 3-day event held the 2nd weekend in July and featuring American, BBQ, Cajun, Chinese, Italian, Mexican and Seafood cuisine as well as live music. In addition, the "Westmont Summerfest", another 3-day event, is held the 2nd weekend in August and features a petting zoo, beer garden, food vendors, climbing wall, softball tournament and more.
