Wilmington is located in northeast Illinois in Will County southwest of Chicago about 15 miles south of Joliet and 15 miles northwest of Kankakee along Highway 53 on the banks of the Kankakee River. Outdoor lovers enjoy nearby Des Plaines State Park and Goose Lake Prarie State Natural Area to the northwest and Kankakee River State Park to the southeast.
