Ernie Pyle State Historic Site |
This was the birthplace of Ernie Pyle, the Pulitzer Prize winning journalist who gained national acclaim for his work as a correspondent during World War II. The restored farmhouse, typical of a Midwestern house of 1900, is decorated with photographs and Victorian style furniture and antiques. Pyle memorabilia, including his books and newspaper columns, are exhibited. Two World War II Quonset huts serve as the visitor center.
