Lebanon is located in Boone County (of which it is the county seat) about 25 miles northwest of Indianapolis just off Interstate 65 near Boones Pond.
Lebanon was officially established on April 30, 1830, following action from the Indiana General Assembly. Lebanon was selected as the county seat later in 1832.
Lebanon is part of the Indianapolis, Indiana metro area.
