Peru is located in
Miami County (of which it is the county seat) north of
Kokomo at the junction of Highways 19 and 124 just of of US Highway 31 on the banks of the Mississinewa River near Miami State Recreation Area and Grissom Air Force Base. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 11,324, a decrease of 1,519 since 1990.
