South Whitley-Cleveland Township Library, serving an area of 1,760 residents, has a collection of 37,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 380 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 960 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Internet terminals are available for use by the general public. Staffing consists of 4 employees, including one fully accredited librarian, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $19,800. Patrons make 21,000 visits annually, and check out materials 54,000 times. Nineteen percent of all check-outs are children's materials.

06/10 Coming to The South Whitley area Earth Day Indiana Festival Indianapolis IN April27 On the final Saturday of every April, thousands of Hoosiers head to downtown Indianapolis to attend one of the nation's largest Earth Day festivals. The Earth Day Indiana Festival combines 140 environmental and conservation exhibits with live music, special activities for kids and good food. Redbud Trail Rendezvous Rochester IN April27-28 See living history of frontier Midwest America, historic camps, music and dance of the period, traditional crafts, food cooked over wood fires, blanket trading, tomahawk and muzzle-loading shooting contests. The village has 40 wooden booths, traditional crafts, blanket trading and muzzle loading shooting matches. Smokin' on the Water - BBQ Festival By The Lake Liberty IN May4-5 Arts, Crafts, and Antiques of all kinds are permitted and desired. Lawn Equipment, Golf Carts, Personal Mobility Devices, Home Healthcare Products, ATVs, RVs, Vehicles, Boats, Outdoor Cooking Equipment, and Sporting Goods are also permitted and desired. Tri-state Bluegrass Festival Kendallville IN May24-27 The goal that the board of directors has tried to achieve at these festivals is to provide high quality and a variety of entertainment in a family oriented atmosphere that encourages jamming. Mentone Egg Festival Mentone IN May30-June1 The three-day event features entertainment, games, food, a parade in the downtown area, a play area for kids, and a huge car, truck, motorcycle and tractor show. All entertainment events are free. Flea markets and crafters line the main street in our downtown. Vintage Indiana Wine and Food Festival Indianapolis IN June1 The popular one-day event is expected to draw over 10,000 people. Vintage will again feature samples of over 200 hundred award-winning Indiana wines as well as wine available for purchase. Food selections from some of Indiana's top chefs and restaurants will be available on site. Live music and cooking demonstrations will be offered throughout the day.
