Royal Center-Boone Township Library, serving an area of 1,540 residents, has a collection of 29,000 books and periodicals; in addition, there are 1,320 CDs, records, cassettes and other audio materials, as well as 2,600 video items, such as DVDs and VHS tapes. Staffing consists of one employee, including one fully accredited librarian, plus volunteers. Annual expenditures on the library collection total $24,000. Patrons make 22,000 visits annually, and check out materials 39,000 times. Twenty-four percent of all check-outs are children's materials.
