Opened at Easter 2000 at Mullingar, just an hour's drive from Dublin. The magnificent early 18th century stately home of Robert Rochfort, Earl of Belvedere, stands in 160 acres of parkland on the shores of Lough Ennell. It is one of the Iteland's finest historic houses, and together with gardens and park has been exquisitely restored. A visitor centre tells the tale of Rochfort's cruel 31-year imprisonment of his second wife, Sir John Piers' seduction of Lady Cloncurry at a picnic (immortalised in verse by Sir John Betjemen) and the creation of Ireland's largest man-made folly - the Jealous Wall. Adult IR3.50; Student, IR2.50; Child, IR2.00; Family Ticket, IR10.00.
