Belfast is the largest city in
Northern Ireland as well as the capital. Located in
County Antrim, it is situated on the east coast on Belfast Lough at the mouth of the River Lagan. It is a major port and a shipbuilding center.
Besides being the seat of government, Belfast is the educational center of Northern Ireland, with Queen's University of Belfast, founded as a college in 1845, being the primary institution.
