The largest of the peninsulas in southwest Ireland, the Iveragh Peninsula lies between Dingle Bay on the north and Kenmare Bay, the estuary of the River Kenmare, on the south. The European end of the first transatlantic cable was put ashore at Valentia Bay at the end of the peninsula.
