Sligo is a town and seaport in Ireland, the capital of County Sligo. It is 134 miles by rail northwest of Dublin. The town has the ruins of a 13th-century abbey, which was partially destroyed by fire in the 15th, and again in the 17th, centuries. Sligo is one of the chief ports of the west coast of Ireland.
