County Carlow is the second smallest of Irish counties. It lies inland in
Leinster Province Province and is bounded on the north by
County Kildare, on the northeast by
County Wicklow, on the southeast by
County Wexford, on the southwest by
County Kilkenny and on the northwest by
County Laois. It covers an area of 346 square miles.
The principle rivers are the Barrow and the Slaney. Notable peaks include Mt. Leinster (2604 feet) and Mt. Blackstairs (2408 feet). The county town is Carlow. Others include Bagenalstown and Tullow.
