Since 1919, the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce has been responsible for making Atchison one of the nation's best cities in which to live, work and visit. The Chamber is involved in business development and retention, strategic planning for the community, retail promotions, government and legislative issues, leadership development and tourism promotions. The Chamber office is located in the restored Santa Fe Depot, an Atchison landmark since 1880. The Chamber calendar of events includes dozens of Chamber-related events and functions throughout the year. New residents of Atchison, or those considering relocating to the Atchison area, can obtain useful new resident info from the Chamber of Commerce. With its Amelia Earhart and railroad heritage and its beautiful historic homes, tourism is becoming a burgeoning industry in the historic community of Atchison.

Heart of America Shakespeare Festival Kansas City MO June18-July7 The Heart of America Shakespeare Festival is set under the stars in South Moreland Park near Nelson Atkins Museum of Art. It is a perfect way to spend a summer evening with family and friends. They have several programs to study and explore such as Speaker's Bureau and Poster and Sonnet Contest. The faculty includes theatre professionals, actors, and educators experienced in performing and teaching Shakespeare. Many of the instructors are veterans of festival productions.
