Population: (2000) 211. Elevation: 1,320 feet. Located in Lyon County along US Hwy-56. Allen is an incorporated city.

Allen is famous for being the location of the earliest settler in the state. Mr. Withington was one of the earliest settlers of the State, coming to Kansas in 1846, being gunsmith to the Sac and Fox Indians. Removing to Council Grove five years later, he opened a store for the Santa Fe and Indian trade.
