Located in the
Northeast Region of the state, in
Washington County. Elev. 1331', Pop. 152. On 10th Road near the Hiway 148 junction. There are historical buildings in Barnes. The Opera House building was built in 1908 as the Dearborn Store. While you're there, look for the 1887 Community State Bank. Barnes has its Old Home Days on the second weekend in August. The town is situated near the head of North Coon Creek, a few miles east of Greenleaf. Henry Ober erected the first building and was the towns first postmaster.
