Bucklin is located in the Southwest Region of the state, in SE Ford County. Pop. (2000) 725 Elev. 2412 feet. At the intersection of highways 54 (US-400) and 34. It's also served by the Southern Pacific, and the Dodge City, Ford, & Bucklin Railroad brings occasional excursion trains down from Dodge City. Downtown is a compact area south of the highway 54 with several ornate old buildings.

Bucklin is in the Cimarron River Drainage Basin, but near the Arkansas River. Bucklin has a public library, a local newspaper and a full range of basic services.
