Fonded: 1878, Pop.:28,451 , Elevation: 2839 feet. Located in the Southwest Region of the state, in Finney County (county seat) and northwest of Dodge City along US Highway 83 on the banks of the Arkansas River. Garden City is near Buffalo Game Preserve and Lake McKinney. The largest county industry, (in terms of employment), is 'Beef Products' employimg about 5000, followed by the Public School System. At the time it was built, Garden City claimed the 'World's largest free swimming pool built in 1922'. Garden Cityt also hosts a golf course and a zoo.
